From June 14 to July 4, 2026, 250 runners will carry a single American flag 3,200 miles from San Francisco to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Every mile is dedicated to a veteran nominated by the American public. The relay finishes on Independence Day with a ceremony at the National Mall.
Joe Nail is an Army National Guard veteran, 50+ marathon finisher, and Stanford Knight-Hennessy Scholar. He founded Relay For America to create a physical act of remembrance that unites communities across the country while honoring those who served.
